The Mixshield TBM drove a Railway Tunnel (2 x 4.2 km ) for Rail freight traffic. As part of the 160 km-long Betuwe Route, which links the Port of Rotterdam with the German border, the Sophiaspoor Tunnel runs under the Rotterdam-Dordrecht Railway, the A16 Motorway, the Rivers Rietbaan and De Noord, and the A15 Motorway.
